Running a BIA that holds

Three levels, one impact scale, and durations management owns

The BIA is the discipline's most frequently failed exercise: too long, too detailed, and concluded by a table where every activity is four-hour critical. This course teaches the method that produces real trade-offs — start at the top, impose a single scale, force comparison, and have it validated by those who bear the consequences.

Learning objectives

  • Structure a BIA in three levels and avoid bogging down
  • Build a multi-criteria impact scale that cannot be gamed

  • Get the results validated by management and keep them current

Intended audience

  • Continuity managers
  • Risk analysts
  • Consultants
  • Business coordinators

Prerequisites

  • Business Continuity Fundamentals

Detailed curriculum

Module 1

Frame before you collect

The framing decisions that determine whether the BIA lands or bogs down.

Module 2

Collecting without being dictated to

Workshop technique, questions that force thought, and handling the universal-criticality bias.

Module 3

Validate, publish, maintain

Turning the BIA into a binding decision rather than one more document.

Assessment method

Self-check questions throughout the lessons, with no recorded score. Where an associated track leads to a certification, that certification has a separate exam.

Document issued

This course does not, on its own, lead to a certificate. A track certification, where one exists, is issued after its exam is passed.
