Loss data collection and key risk indicators
A database that drives decisions, indicators that give warning
Collecting losses without analysing their causes produces nothing but a history. This course covers the collection threshold, root cause qualification, building genuinely predictive indicators, and calibrating alert thresholds.
Learning objectives
- Set a collection threshold that captures useful information
- Qualify an actionable root cause
- Distinguish a risk indicator from a performance indicator
- Calibrate alert thresholds that trigger action
Intended audience
- Operational risk
- Management control
- Permanent control
- Managers
Prerequisites
- Running an RCSA campaign
Detailed curriculum
Module 1
Measuring what counts
Threshold, root causes, and indicators that anticipate rather than report.
Module 2
Using the database
Trend analysis, external comparison and feeding the scenarios.
Assessment method
Self-check questions throughout the lessons, with no recorded score. Where an associated track leads to a certification, that certification has a separate exam.
Document issued
This course does not, on its own, lead to a certificate. A track certification, where one exists, is issued after its exam is passed.
